Matric Final Assembly & Rite of Passage
Among the highlights of the first day of Balloon Week was one of the most meaningful traditions in the St Andrew’s College calendar, the Final Assembly for the Matric Class of 2025, followed by the Rite of Passage.
The assembly marked the culmination of five years of growth, learning, and shared experiences. It was a heartfelt occasion, filled with reflection, gratitude, and celebration of all that our Matrics have achieved during their journey at College.
As part of the Rite of Passage, the Grade 12 pupils made their way through a tunnel of College staff and pupils, accompanied by the iconic sound of the Pipe Band. Their procession wove through the heart of our campus, past the Clock Tower and on to the Antony Clark Andrean Resource Centre, where they signed out of the register they had signed when they first joined St Andrew’s College, just as generations of Old Andrean before them have, and received their Old Andrean tie.
The ceremony concluded as the Matrics passed through the Clock Tower arches to The Highlander, where they enjoyed their Matric Luncheon in the company of their peers and mentors. This moment signifies not only the end of their school journey, but also their formal induction into the brotherhood of Old Andreans.
We extend our warmest congratulations to the Class of 2025. May they carry the spirit of St Andrew’s College into the world with pride, purpose, and courage.

Matric Luncheon
Following the Final Assembly and Rite of Passage, the St Andrew’s College Matrics gathered at The Highlander for their Matric Luncheon, a much-anticipated tradition, recognising the Matric Class as they approach the end of their schooling journey at St Andrew’s College. Surrounded by staff and peers, the event provided a fitting opportunity to reflect on shared memories, acknowledge achievements, and look forward to the exciting paths that lie ahead.
A highlight of the occasion was the Matric Class sipping from the Loving Cup for the first time. Piped in by a College piper, the Loving Cup was carried with ceremony by Head of School, Alastair de Kock, and Second Head of School, Asante Chivere, before being presented to the Headmaster, Mr Tom Hamilton, to take the first sip. Thereafter, the Matric Class shared in this custom, as generations of Old Andreans have before them. The Loving Cup is a treasured tradition of the Andrean Community, symbolising fellowship and unity.
This special occasion, held on the first day of Balloon Week, not only honoured the Class of 2025 but also reinforced the enduring spirit of camaraderie that defines St Andrew’s College.
