Six Old Andreans participated in the 2026 Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa (VCASA) Over-50s Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT) from 10 to 15 May 2026, with four representing Border Veterans.
Border enjoyed an outstanding campaign, winning all three of their pool matches to progress to the final against the Dolphins. Batting first in the final, Border posted an impressive 262/8 from their 45 overs, with the Dolphins ultimately claiming victory by five wickets.

Four Old Andreans selected for South Africa:
Following their outstanding performances at the IPT, four Old Andreans have been selected to represent South Africa at the Africa Cup in Zimbabwe at the end of October 2026.
The selected players are:
• Russell Bennett (Upper, 1990) – Proteas (Captain)
• Andrew Emslie (Armstrong, 1989) – South Africa A
• Justin Price (Espin, 1990) – South Africa A
• Dan Taylor (Espin, 1991) – South Africa A
The Africa Cup will serve as the final selection tournament for the South African squad that will compete at the Veterans Cricket World Cup in India at the end of January 2027.
The performances that contributed to the selection of our four Old Andreans included:
Border vs Eastern Storm
• Andrew Emslie – 74; 2/47 (7 overs)
• Dan Taylor – 1/47 (9 overs)
• Justin Price – 5/53 (8 overs)
Border vs Titans
• Justin Price – 1/18 (5 overs)
• Dan Taylor – 4/14 (8 overs)
• Russell Bennett – 28* (not out)
Border vs Boland
• Russell Bennett – 41* (not out)
• Andrew Emslie – 30
• Dan Taylor – 2/25 (9 overs)
Border vs Dolphins (Final)
• Russell Bennett – 51
• Andrew Emslie – 1/39 (9 overs)
• Dan Taylor – 1/51 (9 overs)
Paul Penzhorn (Graham, 1994), representing Boland, was perhaps a little unfortunate to miss selection after producing several excellent performances. His contributions included scores of 64 against Eastern Storm and 45 against Border, while he also claimed 1/22 from 8 overs against Eastern Province.
Meanwhile, Mackie Hobson (Mullins, 1984) proved that age is just a number, representing Eastern Province at 59 years old. He made valuable contributions whenever called upon, remaining unbeaten in two innings (6* and 11*) and bowling a disciplined 16 overs across the tournament at an economy rate of just five runs per over.
Congratulations to all six Old Andreans on representing their provinces with distinction, and especially to Russell Bennett, Andrew Emslie, Justin Price and Dan Taylor on their well-deserved South African selection. We wish them every success at the Africa Cup in Zimbabwe and hope to see them earn selection for the World Cup in India next year.
