Graham Blackbeard (Graham 1974) recently shared this wonderful photo of himself with Nathan Sanan (Mullins 2004) and his daughter, Joanna Pieters (née Blackbeard, Crewe 2004), taken at the World Cup Masters Hockey in Rotterdam.
Nathan and Joanna have been friends since their College and DSG days, and it is wonderful to see them now representing South Africa together in the 35–40 age category.
They are among more than 400 South African hockey players taking part in the 2026 World Masters Hockey (WMH) World Cup running from 22 July to 16 August across four cities: Brasschaat (Belgium), Breda (Netherlands), Schiedam (Netherlands) and Rotterdam (Netherlands), and features 400 teams from around the world.
A fantastic achievement and well done to Nathan and Joanna!
