In Memoriam

Bertram Egerton Tweedie ‘Ege’ White

3 January 1971 – 19 June 2023

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Bertram Egerton Tweedie (Ege) White (Prep 1984, Upper 1989).

Ege was a fourth generation Old Andrean following in the footsteps of his father Bertram Egerton (Prep 1952, Upper 1956), his grandfather Bertram Egerton Bowker (Upper 1925) and his great grandfather Bertram Egerton (1884).

Ege was a prefect and took part in a wide variety of school activities. He was an active member of the agricultural society and the debating society, and took part in the school production of “King Richard II”.

A competitive sportsman, Ege was a member of the College 2nd VIII rowing crew, and played for the 2nd XV rugby team, being vice-captain on several occasions. He also played social tennis and squash.

In the Cadet Corps, he held the rank of Corporal and was a section leader in the Retreat Ceremony in 1989.

Always a loyal Old Andrean, Ege was actively involved in the Bedford Branch 0f the Old Andrean Club and loved coming back to his school Reunions and to watch his sons play sport.

Sincere condolences to his wife, Nicky, his sons Bertram and Stuart, his brother Andrew (Drix) and the extended family.

He will be sorely missed.
