The Sydney leg of the 1st XV Rugby Tour has been an outstanding success.
College’s second tour fixture, played on 30 June against St Pius College, ended in an impressive 41–22 victory.
The team then took on St Augustine’s College on 2 July, where the scores were locked at 14–14 at half-time, and the game was levelled again at 21 when St Augustine’s scored a brilliant try, all before Noah Stowe went over for the second time to secure a hard-fought 28–21 win.
A sincere thank you to St Pius College and St Augustine’s College for the outstanding hospitality extended by both schools. The squad appreciated the opportunity to compete against such strong opposition. These victories mean College has now won all three matches of the tour so far.
Following the match, 53 Old Andreans, DSG Old Girls, Old Preppies, touring parents and partners gathered for a reunion at the Mona Vale Hotel, hosted by Headmaster Tom Hamilton. Tom provided guests with an update on the three schools, as well as exciting plans for College’s upcoming 175th anniversary.
Reflecting on the evening, Tom commented, “A great vibe here in Sydney after a fabulous game of rugby!“
Our sincere thanks go to Tamsyn O’Connell (née Key, 2005), John Kingsley-Jones (Graham, 1974), and Andrew Ward (Espin, 1997) for organising the reunion and helping make the Sydney leg of the tour such a memorable success.
